The brief: In 2015 Ooyala moved from Mountain View into a 65,000 square foot headquarters at 4750 Patrick Henry Drive in Santa Clara, with room for 200 more employees. The space had to feel like Ooyala from the moment you walked in, not like a generic tech office with a logo on the wall.
The role: I worked with the executive team and facilities, and directed the interior design firm HGA, to bring the brand into the building. The name Ooyala means “cradle” in Telugu, and we built that idea into the space with circles and soft curves, from the lobby lighting to the round meeting rooms. The brand colors are used as accents against a calm gray palette, so the space feels like Ooyala without leaning on logos.
The result: The office won a 2015 IIDA Northern California Honor Award and was featured in Architect Magazine and Office Snapshots. It gave the team a place they were proud of and showed the brand could live well beyond screens and sales materials.
